FAQ

When do Helping Tickets unlock?
Multiple walkthrough sources place the Helping Ticket phase at Year 1 Spring 16, after earlier story beats including the first curfew-related rule. That date starts the system; it does not finish every errand the same day.
How do you use a Helping Ticket?
Neoseeker’s guide describes selecting the coupon in your inventory, approaching a villager, and confirming hand-in—similar to giving a gift. You distribute tickets across the village at your own pace.
How many Helping Tickets do you need?
Neoseeker lists twelve errands—one per villager except Rin. The physical item count versus twelve story events is not fully documented in English official text.
What does Komako’s Helping Ticket unlock?
Documented steps: gather listed materials, repair the Crossroads shrine, report back; the shrine becomes usable the next day for Magatama offerings and shrine skills.
Do you get rewards immediately?
Japanese primer notes and English walkthroughs often say villagers ask you to return the next day before granting tools, recipes, or shop changes—even after you finish the task requirements.

What are Helping Tickets in Village in the Shade?

Helping Tickets (errand coupons in some guides) are a spring milestone where Rin assigns village chores after early rule-breaking (Neoseeker’s “Breaking the Second Rule” framing). Walkthrough hubs describe receiving coupons and handing one ticket per villager to hear each request—not an official NIS label like “punishment.”

Tasks fall into familiar life-sim buckets—deliver materials, clean spaces, gather plants, or build something—but rewards are tied to story progression and shops, not instant cash. This phase overlaps the village rules theme of cooperating for the village (Rule Two).

When does the Helping Ticket phase start?

Three independent community sources align on Year 1 Spring 16 as the milestone when tickets become available and you can present items to villagers:

  • Neoseeker’s “Breaking the Second Rule” walkthrough (errand coupons after the first night rule).
  • Speedrun.com route notes listing [Spring/16] for shrine repair and other ticket events.
  • Kanigame’s Japanese primer chart marking Spring 16 for お手伝い券 and villager presents.

Until this phase opens, focus on crops, the beginner guide checklist, and sleeping through unsettling nights if nights are not assigned yet (night exploration).

How do you complete a ticket?

Reported flow across Neoseeker and Japanese primers:

  1. Hold the ticket and interact with the target villager.
  2. Listen to the request category (construction, housework, gathering, etc.).
  3. Stock materials early—several jobs need quarry or forest goods.
  4. Finish the objective (sometimes an on-map interaction box).
  5. Talk again; many chains pay out the following morning via an event.

You may work on multiple villagers in parallel; spreading tasks across days matches in-game dialogue that thanks you but asks you to return tomorrow.

Which rewards are backed by at least two sources?

The table below lists unlocks confirmed by two or more independent walkthrough/primer sources on the verification date. Everything else is omitted or marked unknown.

Villager Documented task (short) Reported unlock Sources
Komako Repair Crossroads / Mukou shrine with wood, stone, salt, copper Shrine usable next day → Magatama shrine skills Neoseeker; Kanigame; Speedrun.com [Spring/16] repair list
Tobari Clean the village head storehouse Hoe / paddy tool (“Ski”); rice & wasabi seedlings at shop Kanigame; Neoseeker errand section
Kisuke Rin’s lunch box errand Copper pickaxe recipe or tool progression Kanigame; Neoseeker
Rokkaku (Listed as bento-related in JP primer) Hangō pot and boiled egg recipe Kanigame; Neoseeker

Single-source matrices (for example competitor unlock tables) mention bow unlocks, brewing barrels, bee hives, hunting licenses, wall calendars, and more—but those rows often carry “unknown” flags or only one citation. We did not list them as facts in the table above. Verify in-game before planning a min-max route.

Why Komako’s ticket matters most for progression

Komako’s chain is the bridge into shrine skills:

  • Materials lists match across Neoseeker and Speedrun.com (wood bundles, stone, rock salt, copper ore).
  • After the repair interaction at the crossroads stone, the shrine opens the next day for offerings.
  • That ties directly to shrine skills and night Magatama pickups noted in reviews.

Skipping or delaying Komako slows recipe unlocks that consume Magatama even if you already farm by day.

How do Helping Tickets relate to money and tools?

Tickets are not a substitute for yen: Rin still charges for lodging in early story, and shop upgrades remain on separate tracks—see money making and tool upgrades. Tickets instead gate facilities (shrine, plow, pickaxe tier, cooking pots) that shrink daily stamina drain later.

Relationship building still matters: talk to Komako and Rin on schedule days, but ticket events are the structured unlock layer for spring.
